This explains what ExplainVids collects, why, and who else touches it. It applies to explainvids.com and the app behind it, operated by Vasil Kirilov.

Who we are

What we collect

Account

Your email address. If you sign in with Google, also the name and profile picture on that Google account. We never receive your Google password.

What you write

The briefs you type, any lines you put in square brackets, and any website address you submit for a video.

What we make for you

Generated scripts, the narration audio, your rendered videos, and the settings that produced them.

Payment

Stripe handles payment. We store your Stripe customer identifier and what you bought. We never see or store your card number.

Technical

Standard server logs, including IP address, for security and debugging. If you accept analytics cookies, aggregate usage data about which pages and features are used.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Your account, your videos and your payments are processed to perform the contract you entered into when you bought a video. Server logs and abuse limits rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the service running and unabused. Analytics rest on your consent, which you give or refuse in the cookie banner and can change at any time.

Who else processes your data

Making a video means sending parts of it to specialists. Each of these is a processor acting on our instructions, under a data processing agreement:

Google Firebase

Sign-in, database and application hosting. EU region.

Anthropic

Writes the script from your brief. Your brief is sent to them.

ElevenLabs

Turns the script into narration. The script text is sent to them.

Amazon Web Services

Renders the finished video. EU region (Frankfurt).

Cloudflare R2

Stores narration audio and finished videos. EU region.

Stripe

Payments and tax. Handles card details directly; we do not.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for anyone else’s advertising.

Two things worth knowing about how the product works

Narration audio is cached across accounts. Audio is stored under a key derived from the exact sentence, voice and settings that produced it, so that identical text is never billed or synthesised twice. This means two people who write the same sentence share one audio file. Do not put anything confidential into a script.

Finished videos are stored at unguessable web addresses. Your video lives at a long random URL so it can be downloaded without signing in. Only you can find it from your account — but anyone you give the link to can open it. Treat the link as the secret.

How long we keep things

Account data for as long as you have an account. Videos and the documents behind them until you delete them or close your account. Payment records for as long as tax law requires, which is typically seven to ten years. Server logs for up to 90 days.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw consent for analytics at any time. Email [email protected] and we will answer within one month. You can also complain to your national data protection authority.

Children

ExplainVids is not for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters we will say so in the app before it takes effect. See also our Cookie Policy and Terms.
